What A Journey!

04/06/2021

What a journey! Twelve years ago Gloria Norwood and I began working together at St. Luke UMC, a tiny church located in the Harrisburg neighborhood of Augusta, Georgia. Within our first year, we founded Good Neighbor Ministries to serve children and families living in our underserved community. It quickly became apparent that our neighbors could not thrive until their health care needs were addressed. We wanted to establish a health care clinic that acknowledges that all of us are more than a body and that true healing takes place when we understand that the mind, body and spirit are inseparable.

Today, we will take part in the groundbreaking ceremony of Hub for Community Innovation. Four local non-profits who have been partnering already to serve our community will strengthen our individual missions by officially agreeing to partner in one location. Augusta Locally Grown, Rise Augusta, Augusta University Literacy Center and Harrisburg Family Health Care will be partnering to bring health and wellness to our community.

Thank you CSRA Community Foundation, the Boys & Girls Club of the CSRA and the Medical College of Georgia Foundation for your work. Your dedication to our community and this creative and innovative model will serve our neighbors for generations. Thank you for loving your neighbors as yourselves.
